Mangla Guest House is a heritage property located in the heart of the old city in Varanasi amidst the winding lanes of the Bengali Tola Bazaar area. You will step back in time as you walk the market and enter our property which dates as much as 200 years old and is just a 5- minute walk to the sacred Ganga River front which is lined with ancient temples and palaces.
We are a small Guest House with just 4 rooms but each is decorated uniquely with touches of traditional Indian and contemporary decor, but always with the idea of the guests’ comfort in mind. There is a cheery and comfortable lobby to hang out in and use the free WiFi or use in the comfort of your own room. All rooms have fans, comfortable beds, are very clean and 2 rooms have AC and TV’s. The beauty of the old houses of India is the beautiful built in storage nooks that add so much character to each room.
We offer sightseeing tours and informed recommendations for great places to visit, eat and experience in Varanasi.
There is a NGO (non-profit) school on the top floor of the property for a few hours each day so you will be greeted by many smiling and friendly young faces.
Our central location makes our house convenient for all types of activities from sightseeing to sampling amazing street food, watching classical Indian music concerts to taking magical boat rides.
Rahul and Amy are your hosts…the dynamic husband and wife duo of an Indian and American couple are here to welcome you to Varanasi and help make your visit to Varanasi is as enjoyable and memorable as possible. There’s no getting around the fact that Varanasi can be a bit challenging with it’s confusing twisting lanes and constant honking from cars and scooters but we are here to show you the magical and sacred Varanasi that makes it so special and makes you feel like you are stepping back in time.
Rahul was born and raised in Varanasi so he knows everything about it and can make sure you get an insider’s view to the area. He’s also spent years giving tours so is very knowledgeable about local history, lore and hidden gems. Amy has been living in India for nearly 10 years and has gained a solid knowledge of Varanasi and other areas of India as well.
We ran a successful Guest House in Goa for many years so we have a strong background in excellent customer service and knowing what travelers need when they come back to the guest house to rejuvenate for the next leg of site seeing and traveling India.
We love hearing traveler’s stories and sharing ours as well!
Mangla Guest House is located in the heart of the Bengali Tola area of Varanasi’s Old City. It is the perfect place to stay for sightseeing and to really get a first hand experience of Varanasi life. We are nestled in the winding streets of the Bengali Tola bazaar which is lined with shops of all types including saris, handicrafts, Indian classical instrument shops, bustling restaurants and cafes of both Indian and International cuisine, temples scattered along its paths and, most importantly, only a 5 minute walk to the Ganga River front which is lined with ancient temples, palaces, the sacred cremation sites and the famous nightly Aarti Ceremony ….be sure to take a boat ride to get a different point of view as well.
While there is much to do in see in our area, we are also conveniently located near the Main Ghat (Dashashwamedh) where you can easily get to the main street for transportation to other popular temples and sites such as Benares Hindu University and Sarnath. We are always happy to help with arrangements for tours and transportation.
The heart of the city pulses strongly closest to the Ganga River and at Mangla Guest House you are where you need to be!
